In 2021 we lost two legends of the Perth (and Australian) hardcore scene with the passings of Steven “Hoppo” Hopperton and Cory Day within a couple of weeks of each other and It was an incredibly sad time.
As a tribute to Hoppo and Cory, Annihilate Music are privileged to book Superbrawl 2023 with a stacked lineup. Superbrawl were a series of awesome shows Cory ran with a who’s who of Perth bands in the early days, with the last one being 20 years ago.
All proceeds from the show will be split between the Leukaemia Foundation and Hoppo’s daughter.
Cory was the frontman for PC Thug, Battletruk and when he moved to Sydney, Lord Sword. He booked several epic shows over a number of years, ran record label PCW and had an early involvement with all ages venue HQ.
Hoppo also featured in PC Thug and Battletruk alongside Cory as well as time in Burn For Me and Inside Out, however he is best known as the bassist for Miles Away. He also ran Common Bond Records notably releasing early recordings for young Perth bands.
Headlining Superbrawl will be Australian hardcore royalty Miles Away. Having laid low for several years now, all members are back in the same country and eager to pay proper respect to two gentlemen who helped shape not just their band but the entire West Australian hardcore movement.
Formed in Perth in 2004 however now based in Melbourne, Extortion are set to unleash their customary fast, angry live show again on Perth crowds after a blistering show here last year.
Perth City Hardcore heavyweights From The Ruins return to the stage for the first time in 5 years to bring back their take on fast paced heavy hardcore.
Opening the night will be Margaret Rivers finest thrash scallywags, Beer Fridge. They’ve taken time out from their busy schedule getting pitted in down south drainers to kick the night off.
We hope you can all attend this special night to honour the massive contribution Cory and Steve made to the WA hardcore and punk scenes.
